One name going around all social media channels and headlines is: Zendaya. The young actress has most certainly made a name for herself. One of the many reasons why the world is currently talking about her is her ongoing collaboration with the luxury fashion house Valentino.

Zendaya stuns in Valentino’s new Rendez-Vous campaign for Spring 2022. Everyone was waiting to see Euphoria's star in this new appearance.

About The Campaign, Valentino's Rendez-Vous Spring 2022

Zendaya has been the face of Valentino for a little over a year now and the collaboration between the brand and the actress has seen great success, no wonder she is the face of the new 2022 Spring Rendez-Vous collection.

The focus of this campaign is all about a change of perspective. The highlight is mainly on the way fashion comes alive and real when it becomes your companion in your daily life. As an expression of the wearer's unique identity, the garment is met with the beauty of the imperfections of our lives. The creative director of Valentino, Pierpaolo Piccioli, has made it his mission to re-signify the Valentino codes with regards to life and truth and his desire to connect the past to the present. When it comes to promoting the campaign there is no one that can do it better than Zendaya.

As Piccioli describes it“Zendaya perfectly embodies and represents what Valentino is and stands for, today. She is a powerful and fierce young woman that uses her talent and her work to express herself, her values and her generation as well".

The Premiere Of The Promotional Video And Zendaya

Valentino announced their new campaign earlier last week and shortly afterwards released the promotional video featuring the actress. The video was shot at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles by Marcell Rev and Scott Sakamoto to the song “Crystalised” by The XX with choreography by Stephen Galloway.

The campaign presents Zendaya floating from backstage to the streets to convey a metaphorical journey. It is meant to represent a day in her life and how the garments are a part of that experience. Zendaya posted on Instagram a sneak peek of one of the outfits included in the video, as well as the green suit with a lavender shirt she wore for the press tour of the Spider-Man: No Way Home. We recognised two of the outfits seen in the video but the rest were certainly worth waiting for.

The promotional video did most certainly live up to our expectations, but this is only one of the big news around this campaign. The brand decided to launch pop-ups at four shops in Paris in Le Carreau du Temple from October 1st-5th to celebrate the new collection. Each shop will host exclusive products and events manifesting the Maison’s contemporary values. Keep your ears open because it seems like Valentino is getting ready for an exciting year full of surprises.

60 years ago, Yves Saint Laurent created his debut collection for the couture house he and his partner, the businessman Pierre Bergéand, founded together. And ever since then, they changed the world of fashion forever.

The collection of Yves Saint Laurent is taking over six of the most established museums in Paris to celebrate the great fashion changemaker.

It was January 29th 1962 – Paris – when all the important people in the fashion industry in France gathered at 30 bis rue Spontini to watch Yves Saint Laurent presenting his first-ever collection. Just at the age of 26, he became known as part of the greatest fashion designers of the 20th century. Over the years, the designer became a prominent figure in France and this can be seen in some of his work. He shares a deep bond with French art, literature and museum collections.

60th Anniversary Of The Designer

This year marks the 60th anniversary of this special moment in the history of fashion and the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent decided to have a proper celebration for it.

“I thought it would be impossible to get so many museums to agree to our idea, but they were all very interested and hugely enthusiastic from the beginning. It is the first time they have all worked together on one project”, says Mouna Mekouar, the curator of the event.

The Centre Pompidou, The Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre and three other museums in Paris decided to honour the french designer and put his garments on display as part of their permanent exhibition. All museums taking part in paying tribute to the designer decided to simultaneously open the doors to the public. It was the date when 26-year-old Yves Saint Laurent presented his first collection in 1962: 29th of January. Other exhibitions are also taking place at the Picasso Museum*, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and will be available till the 15th of May.

The Exhibitions

The interesting part of the exhibitions is that every museum presents and explores different moments in Laurent's life as a designer. The Musée d’Orsay showcases his love of Marcel Proust, the Louvre compares the lavish decorative arts in the Galerie d’Apollon with his garments and presents the why they inspired the designer. The avant-garde movement linked to one of his collections is portrayed in the Pompidou. While the art museums display his collections, the Museum of Fashion presents the sketches that resulted in the garments. Every single event will combine Saint Laurent’s pieces along with those of famous artists such as Mondrian, Picasso, Matisse, Bonnard and Dufy.

“Saint Laurent was very much inspired by art and this shows the links and dialogue between his work and the museum exhibits. We didn’t want to put the clothes in a room, we wanted them there among the permanent collections. This way the visitors will rediscover those collections at the same time as paying homage to Yves Saint Laurent. It’s like a cultural archipelago” continued Mekouar.

Yves Saint Laurent, the genius with a remarkable vision, revolutionised women’s fashion and shifted the industry into a new and contemporary direction. Providing modern women with an appealing mix of power and femininity, he permanently transformed their wardrobes and he keeps doing so.

How Technology is Taking Over the Fashion Industry

Way before the pandemic started, many of us have noticed the rapid evolution of technology. Covid just made all the technological advancements happen faster than anticipated. If you think about it, there are very few things nowadays that people do not need to use technology for. But what about the fashion industry?

Virtual reality versus fashion industry. Ph. Tumisu, PixabayPh. Tumisu, Pixabay

Fashion did not stay behind as new technologies progressed fast forward. The biggest trend at the moment is, indeed, the metaverse and virtual fashion.

Many brands nowadays have easily featured their products and vision in the virtual space with the same value and status they have in real life.

What Is Metaverse?

The term 'metaverse' has become more widely used with the popularity of crypto and bitcoins, a whole new world is being built in front of our eyes. Ever since video games were created, a new virtual reality was introduced and this is now opening many opportunities for artists who are thriving on this new phenomenon. As for the web developers, they are trying their best to save it. But what is it all about? The New York Times defines metaverse as “a variety of virtual experiences, environments and assets that gained momentum during the online-everything shift of the pandemic”.

We can, without a doubt, say that this is a way for the community to realise that sooner or later everything could be moved into a new virtual world.

Is There Such A Thing As A Fashion Metaverse?

If everything is to be moved online nothing will be left behind and fashion is one of the things that are already there, even if it does not feel like it. As people spend more time online, CB Insights Industry Analyst Consensus estimates that virtual goods will represent a $190B market by 2025.1 The way fashion is immersed in the metaverse can be split into two categories: a combination of physical and digital, in which clothing can be worn through augmented or virtual realities, and a fully digital market in which items can be purchased directly from an avatar. Considering there is a demand for such products, more and more high-end brands are trying to make their way into the metaverse. However, with some people being sceptical about moving into virtual, brands are also showing their concerns. To test the virtual environment and digital fashion with all its perks and flaws, the majority of brands have made various collaborations with game, social, and metaverse platforms.

The Place Of High-end Brands In The Metaverse

The virtual world is supposed to represent a flawless world, in which everyone wants to achieve perfection. Luxury is a key component in the metaverse and that is where the high-end brands can once again dominate the fashion world. Just because some of us are just now learning about the metaverse, this does not mean that it just appeared. Most brands have been working on various projects and collaborations to establish a status in the online society for years now. Louis Vuitton, for instance, released a League of Legends collection in 2019. The brand entered into a multi-year partnership with Riot Games in September that includes both physical and digital designs for the 2019 League of Legends World Championship. That is just one example of a way to be present in the metaverse. Moschino released skins for The Sims, Gucci released a digital collection for a styling app; Nike, Chanel and Balenciaga have collaborated with ‘Pokemon Go’ making virtual shoe collections.

That is just a glimpse into the virtual world. Many more things are being created on a daily basis and many more are disappearing from the real world. There is a place for everyone online, whether for better or worse. Along with trying to keep up with the trends in reality, now we would actually have to keep up with the digital ones as well. It is a challenge worth accepting.

You can easily keep up with the latest fashion trends or find the one-of-a-kind garment made just for you thanks to all the sustainable and vegan fashion brands out there.

Nowadays sustainable fashion is not something new or rare, yet everyone seems to think it is very hard to find. The proof: here are some brands to have on your list for sustainable fashion.

Birdsong

Birdsong - Dress in Protest Source: Birdsong

More than just an ethical and sustainable fashion brand, Birdsong is a social enterprise. A brand that wishes to revolutionise the way we produce and consume fashion. The slogan 'dress in protest' is meant to raise awareness of the fast pace of the fashion industry and the desire to follow trends. Birdsong designs clothes for remarkable women, but are also designed by remarkable women. The fabrics used are either ethical, sustainable or reclaimed alongside the use of eco dyes. It is all about finding that unique garment that makes you feel empowered. Their collection is unlike anything you will find on the high street: "it’s about thoughtful clothes in bright colours, edgy silhouettes and original prints made from natural fabrics."

Fanfare

The brand is built on the foundation of ethics and sustainability. Their goal is to popularise circularity in the fashion industry and change the way people buy, wear and consume clothing. With upcycling at the heart of the label’s philosophy, the Fanfare team manages to transform vintage pieces into contemporary designs by repurposing existing materials through various textile cutting techniques. In addition to being entirely plastic-free, Fanfare is made from sustainable materials and is certified by OEKO-TEX and GOTS.

“Our hope for the future is that we can change the world around us and become a catalyst towards powerful social good and new models of consumption.”

Lucy & Yak

Lucy & Yak, environmentally friendly and ethical fashionSource: Lucy & Yak

Lucy & Yak is an independent, ethical, and sustainably made brand, committed to preserving the environment and society. Every item, from boilersuits to colourful dungarees to cropped sweatshirts, is made with organic fabrics and manufactured in their factory in North India, where workers receive four times the minimum wage for the state. They use 100% recycled and biodegradable postage material and stationery to distribute their products. And if that was not enough to get you hooked on the brand let me tell you that they also have a Depop shop. To ensure all stock gets sold and demonstrate that sustainable clothing can be affordable, any flawed piece is advertised at a discounted price on Depop.

Indigo Luna

A small family-run brand focused on producing good quality products created using eco-consciousness and sustainable manufacturing practices. A yoga and swimwear line, Indigo Luna is handmade in Bali by women-owned and operated factories. Using natural fabrics and natural dyeing techniques, the rich, earthy colours come from various plant materials such as indigo leaves, mango leaves, Indian almond leaves and Indian redwood bark. Be sure to keep yourself updated with the brands newest addition, because their collections are purposely created in small, sustainable runs so they can run out of stock and avoid wasting any materials.

Ninety Percent

Ninety Percent, sustainable fashion supporting charitiesSource: Ninety Percent

Can you guess where the name might come from? Ninety Percent is a London-based sustainable womenswear label that shares 90% of its profit between charitable causes. With the purchase of their products, the brand asks its customers to pick which charity they would like to support. The pioneering business model, Ninety Percent has created, strives to have a different approach to the fashion industry. Their collection includes a variety of luxury basics that elevate the everyday, such as well-cut organic cotton sweats, detailed jersey staples and comfortable tops made from soft TENCEL.

“We don’t believe in short-lived trends and hope that once you have finished with your Ninety Percent garment you’ll pass it on for somebody else to love, too”

Have you fallen in love with the world of sustainable fashion? There sure is a lot to fall in love with. From the colourful and bold garments to the minimalistic and sophisticated high street-like collections. They all share the same mission: to be good for you and good for the planet.

Zendaya’s Spider-Man themed outfits

Everyone is talking about the new “Spider-Man: No Way Home”, also described by many as the best MCU film in years. The most outstanding fashion looks from the press tour are, of course, Zendaya’s.

Spider man MagazinePh. Erik Mclean (Unsplash)

Marvel fans are losing their minds over how Zendaya used the characters from the films as inspiration for her outfits.

The actress has us wondering if this is the way movie stars are going to promote their films from now on. We are about to see, but first, it is time to spend some words on her outfits.

The Black And Gold Suit Inspired Look

Zendaya wearing Valentino's spiderweb gown - Spider Man No Way Home premiere, Los AngelesCourtesy of maison Valentino

At the big premiere in Los Angeles last December, Zendaya went with a trusted fashion collaborator: Valentino. For the occasion, the designer, Pierpaolo Piccioli crafted a custom beige haute couture gown embroidered with spider webs and completed with a matching eye mask. The pattern covers the entire flowy slip silhouette, which has a deep V-neckline and a slit that goes up to her hip. You can notice how the dress is completely covered in a dainty black spiderweb. This pattern does not just link to the main character on the screen but also to Zendaya's relationship with Tom Holland. A sweet touch to this look. This outfit is actually a reference to Tom Holland’s character in the film – Spider-Man or more specifically the new Spider-Man suit that was introduced in this film. The Black and Gold Suit is indeed Spider-Man’s regular suit but inside out.

The Green Goblin-inspired look

Special attention goes to my personal favourite, the green (goblin) suit. Zendaya and her co-star, as well as partner, made a guest appearance on ‘The Graham Norton Show’, where they were promoting ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Is there any better way to promote the new release than using props? That is a reference you cannot miss if you are a Marvel fan. The actress wore an exquisite green two-piece suit from Valentino Spring 2022 collection along with a lavender shirt.

No wonder this is the second look by Valentino, considering she has been the face of the brand for a little over a year now, and we can say with certainty she is rocking the Valentino looks. The combination of a classically tailored green jacket with notched lapels and a silk lavender shirt ensured an effortlessly elegant look. Christian Louboutin pumps and Bulgari jewels completed her look. The shirt and colour combination gives this outfit a retro vibe, does it not?

Doctor Octopus-inspired Look

Zendaya wearing Roberto Cavalli custom jewelled dress in Paris, Theatre du ChateletCourtesy of maison Roberto Cavalli

And last, but definitely not least, I would like to highlight Roberto Cavalli’s masterpiece and also the look that spoke most to the fans. At the awards ceremony in Paris, Theatre du Chatelet, also Zendaya and Tom Holland’s first official red-carpet appearance, she showed up in a stunning custom charcoal crêpe de Chine open-back evening dress from Roberto Cavalli’s Autumn/Winter 2000 collection. While there is no doubt that the long, sophisticated black silhouette dress is a masterpiece, all eyes were on the golden detail on the back of the dress. The “spine jewel golden cage was linked by micro golden chains” and re-edited from the original one in order to make the appearance.

Roberto Cavalli for Zendaya by Roberto PuglisiCourtesy of maison Roberto Cavalli

And to compliment the golden detail on the back, she had her hair up in a bun and accessorised with large golden hoops. This outfit was inspired by Spider-Man’s greatest villain, Doc Ock, or otherwise known as Dr Otto Octavius. This outfit sparked a conversation online and all eyes were on Zendaya expecting her new public appearance to see what reference she might come up with next.

These are only a few of Zendaya’s iconic fashion moments. She has a lot more to offer to the fashion scene and she is always surprising her fans with her fashion choices. Knowing that she has been fully booked with promoting her new motion pictures “Dune” and “Spider-Man”, as well as the upcoming premiere of season two of Euphoria, we are all eager to see what she is going to surprise us with next. One thing is sure, it is going to leave us speechless again.

How Sustainability Promotes Climate Positivity

Climate change is real and happening right now, right in front of everyone’s eyes. Hence, taking action is essential if you want to see the planet better.

HOW SUSTAINABILITY PROMOTES CLIMATE 1Ph. Edward Howell, Unsplash

Sustainability should be the new normal. If this should be our approach to fashion, climate positivity will ensure that there is something to hope for in the future.

Climate change is amongst us and should be tackled immediately. For better days to come, we must look at the broader picture: the agenda of how sustainability promotes a better environmentally friendly life for all and, particularly, how to create a change capable of adapting to all lives.

Climate Positivity

HOW SUSTAINABILITY PROMOTES CLIMATE 3Ph. Rio Lecatompessy, Unsplash

Climate positivity helps to minimise climate change while also promoting a positive approach in our society. Seeing a switch and aiming for a difference demonstrates a feeling of dedication. It embraces new sets of options and challenges in the hopes of improving the community, our society, and the ecosystem as a whole, so climate change will soon cause less damage. Eco-friendly, recyclable, and greenwashing are all keys to promoting climate positivity.

Sustainability And Us

HOW SUSTAINABILITY PROMOTES CLIMATE 2Ph. Francois Le Nguyen, Unsplash

As people of the world, we all have the power to make valuable changes in our lifestyle; it just requires simple knowledge and awareness of what has been affected: people's livelihoods, our communities, and current attempts to control the climate change impact.

When it comes to sustainability, it is frequent to hear about it but we have no idea about how it is made, where it comes from, or what the day-to-day manufacturing process entails. Durable development should encompass more than just crochet, knitting, and locally sourced materials; it should also include a thorough understanding of history, care, and the work process. To create something high-quality, resistant, and long-lasting, assuring that future consumers will only have one job: to care for their garments, which includes caring for the biosphere.

Sustainability is about more than just keeping the ecosystem clean and safe for everyone; it also recognises the importance of ideals like renewal growth and diversity, as well as striving for greater social justice and equity. “Doing nothing or doing just enough is not going to cut it. We have to act in this decade to avoid the most severe environmental and socioeconomic effects of a changing climate,” said Dickon Pinner, who is the senior partner and global leader of McKinsey & Company’s Sustainability Practice.

The process will be seen if you look at the future profit; in the end, you only have a successful income if you have reliable consumers. Sustainable living expands every day, and consumers grow and adapt to a more positive lifestyle; therefore, change and evolution are required.

The beauty of seeing different kinds of clothing is the beauty of the world of fashion, and everyone wants to be a part of a trend or a craze. However, many fashion brands are on the verge of wreaking havoc on the ecosystem by employing fast fashion, low-wage labour, and hazardous production methods. Why is it wrong? Delilah Smith, who has spoken on fast fashion's impact on the environment, said, “A fast-paced model requires fast-paced production, and unfortunately, quicker production gives way to an increase in environmental damage.” Therefore, these companies make and distribute their products is neither safe nor equitable.

Consumers: The Key To A Sustainable Lifestyle

HOW SUSTAINABILITY PROMOTES CLIMATE 4 Ph. Jess @ Harper Sunday, Unsplash

The environment versus high fashion, how will everyone protect it? And how will everyone deal with the consequences? Clothing can be made more eco-friendly but we can also choose second-hand vintage clothing found in charity and antique shops, as well as on websites like Vinted and Depop, which filter items based on affordability, preference, and like-ability.

There is no denying that in the fashion industry sustainability is the buzzword right now. It is about sending a statement to everyone and, in some ways, addressing all of the challenges that fashion and the environment have with each other, as well as producing a vital message to highlight, showcase, and encourage climate positivity. Biyya Mansoer has expressed in an article, ‘You are what you wear’, “the way we express ourselves through fashion can provide an influential platform to drive change towards more ethical and sustainable practices in fashion supply chains. Here is where self-expression through fashion has evolved into something bigger – a choice and our way of life.”

A study by Dunja Radonic on the ‘fashion discount’ has displayed the percentages are different in all age categories. For general statistics, “53% of men and 47% women in the UK buy from sustainable brands” and “mature women between the ages of 35-55 buy from sustainable brands”; therefore, this data demonstrates how sustainable trends are still snowballing.

Goal For Change

The changes required to combat climate change are possibly tricky but necessary. If something is at risk, it is bound to have a resolution. Sustainability is critical because it allows for positive change for the improvement of both people and the planet.

Are you not sure about what to wear on New Year's Eve? No panic! The editorial team put together their best festive outfits in this NYE stylebook where the key denominator is your personality.

We did it many times: buying a shiny, daring, excessive New Year's Eve outfit and wearing it just once. Fashions Finest's team opened their wardrobe and picked their best NYE looks. Browse our unconventional lookbook for inspiration and tips to let your personality shine and save some money for the new year!

Bethan’s New Year's Eve Look

Bethans New year Look
"My NYE look is styled with a 1960s' glamorous American housewife in mind," says Bethan Carrick, fashion historian and editorial intern at Fashions Finest - "think Mad Men's Betty Draper, my ultimate style icon. My plans for NYE are up in the air so I'm keeping my options open with this outfit but making sure I'm glowing. I have gone for a palette of luxurious golden hues which is tied together with a black Prada centrepiece - can you ask for much more? It is always important to me to match what I'm wearing on my feet with what I'm wearing from my neck and upwards: so these delicious jewel-encrusted Manolo Blahnik heels which no doubt are inspired by the court of Versaille are paired with an equally luxurious vintage gold pill necklace. To balance out the statement of gold I'm wearing a dainty Chanel cloche hat. These Batsheva orange dotted trousers signal to me where luxury meets comfort, which I am all about. Finally, wherever I will be it is going to be cold so I'll need a cosy jacket to take me through till 12 am and this Dior faux fur jacket is ideal. This outfit makes me feel like I'm going to gracefully glide my way through 2022. Cosy golden vibes only, please."

"I've chosen Vestiaire Collective to source my NYE look as I'm a big supporter of resale and believe it's the future of fashion. I spend a lot of time trawling through this site looking at beautiful garments that I hope to one day have money and space in my wardrobe to own."

Leila’s New Year's Eve Look

Leilas New year Look
"This is an alternative and mainly vintage-inspired take on the New Year’s Eve outfit. It does not always have to be a dull sparkling glitter dress. Embrace the ‘90s and draw all eyes to you, while simultaneously supporting small independent designers and sustainability by shopping pre-loved."

Leila Katharina Kaess, international student and editorial intern at Fashions Finest, goes into more detail: "Snakedivine is an independent brand, based in Kassel, Germany and run by Rebecca. She studies free arts, makes tattoos and began to engage with CGI. Most of her items are unique single designs with an exclusively-limited batch of one to three pieces. This makes everything you buy extraordinarily special and individual. With one of these pieces, you are safe to avoid turning up in the exact same outfit some else is wearing. Rebecca is also keen on sourcing the fabrics from small sellers, remnant fabrics and second hand. The entirety of the range offered online is carefully crafted by hand. In an attempt to conquer fast fashion and overconsumption she invests a lot of time and creativity in every single piece. Thus, it is all the more devastating to see that a variety of her designs have been stolen, manufactured in horrible conditions and with synthetic materials, by the Chinese ultra-fast fashion brand SHEIN, to be sold for a few pounds. She is only one of several upcoming designers to be named. That is why we must support small and independent businesses!

The corset jacket by the infamous ‘90s brand Catwalk Collection is now considered deadstock, as those are not produced anymore, so you might want to get one as long as they are privately sold. A cute bralette underneath means that you could also open up the jacket or get rid of it entirely if you want to wear it as a top.

The well-beloved NODALETO platform Mary Janes pick up the jacket’s black velvet material, thereby creating a continued theme, as well as bringing top and bottom together coherently.

A cute little handbag to fit all the little things one needs when heading out are perfectly stored in this lovely vintage Vivienne Westwood bag. Vestiaire is always a good place to buy designer handbags since they are vintage (good for the environment and your wallet) and undergo testing for proof of authenticity by professional staff, which ensures that no dupes are sold. Lots of chunky silver jewellery and the eyecatcher, a huge Vivienne Westwood pearl choker, bestow the look with an edgy retro vibe. Also, notice how the cross earrings pick up the green colour of the bag, while the nail polish and lipstick match the colour scheme used in the trousers. Attention to little details like this compliment an outfit. This compilation can be used as inspiration, maybe you have some items in a similar, or would like to try your hand at an upcycling project."

Olivia’s New Year's Eve Look

Olivias New year Look
"For me Christmas and NYE is the best excuse to wear a full outfit of glitter and this dress is the perfect example."
Olivia Brecque, editorial intern and Fashion Design Management student at the LCF, considers the holidays as the perfect time to do something good for someone in needs: "To get you in the Christmas spirit I decided to pick my outfits from Cancer Research in Islington as I believe there are endless choices of outfits in Charity shops, not only is it good for the environment but you are helping to raise money for a cause. This outfit in total cost 69£. Any pair of black boots that you own should do the trick as all the focus is on this glitter dress. I would like to thank the staff at Cancer research Islington for being so helpful and kind."

Deborah New Year's Eve Look

Deborahs New year Look
"I have chosen a look from my wardrobe because I like the idea of thinking sustainably and reusing clothing rather than buying new clothes that I don’t really need." Deborah St. Louis, founder of Fashions Finest, is a champion in sensible fashion choices.

"Most of the items I have worn many times and in different ways. The ASOS top is a new purchase and I love the combination of burnt orange with the black floral design. The warehouse tan skirt is one of my favourite items which I have had for over 10 years so no longer available online but here is a similar look from Warehouse which I’m sure anyone could find in a charity shop for less than half the price.

I have finished my look with a selection of jewellery that I have had for many years and that will complement any look. Similar jewellery can be purchased at an affordable price from Accessorize

My go-to leather handbag has been with me since the '90s and it cost me around £20.00 back then. Here is an alternative from Ted Baker. My go-to heeled boots, which finish this look so nicely, find a similar alternative online at ASOS

Now I’m all set to step out and enjoy my NYE party with friends without even having to spend any money on an outfit."

Valentina’s New Year's Eve Look

Valentinas New year Look
"How things change... In the past, I was more bothered by the idea of celebrating the year leaving us rather than looking for party outfits and having fun. The fussy me was not ready to bid farewell to the year, especially if it was a generous one for me!

My NYE outfit idea has the typical broken student, my old me, in mind. Here is a versatile look that allows you to reuse the dress and any item in the new year, again and again. The OOTD plays around colours and feels making the '70s the decade of freedom, youth and carefreeness. The essential piece is this Reformation 'Briea' halterneck mini dress. Pattern, colour palette and neckline take inspiration from the party decade for excellence. Move around in this dress; as the silk flows, the cubed pattern acquires fluidity. Geometries break.
Reformation follows the Net Sustain 8 eco-conscious production keys. A candid ZARA faux fur jacket accompanies the dress to keep toasty and conceal the sensual open back. It is 100% artificial fur and crafted in line with the brand environmentally-friendly standards.

2021 footwear saw barely-there sandals and chunky heels alike. These vegan MONKI ankle boots give a strong sense of stability with their structured heel so your feet will thank you too!"

Valentina Chirico, chief editor at Fashions Finest, moves on matching jewellery. "The handpicked accessories recall the dress warm colour scheme: gold. NuebeStudio polymer clay drop earrings in the shade Sahara are a dainty touch of exclusivity and lush: 100% handmade with 14k gold leaf. Behind NuebeStudio is Noelia, a former Spanish model turned SEO marketer, then jewellery maker.

Gold is rather expensive, so why not add some brass bracelets instead? These stackable brass bangles are handmade and fair trade by People Tree, plus they shine like gold! '70s' earthy and saturated colours find a nicely surprising balance in this Louis Vuitton embossed leather pochette in an acidic lime hue. What a way to wave goodbye to 2021! There are many ways to dress up for New Year's Eve, all varied and still valid, whether you plan to spend the last night of the year partying all night out or staying in all wrapped up nice and cosy.

Mixing and matching our favourite clothing and wishlist picks was a fun game and a good style exercise. Fun aside and most importantly, our NYE stylebook wants to be more than a simple shopping guide. Indeed, it is not.

We like to think we are like no other e-zine around. We do not want you to feel compelled to buy so that you can feel gratified and conformed. Fashion should make you both look good and feel happy. You can do it in many ways; for example, you can join the secondhand brigade and give new life to pre-loved clothing online or in-store. You can buy to support a cause dear to you, wear independent and handmade labels, rent a luxury outfit or even design and sew your own holiday outfit! Being fashion smart is always among the latest trends, and there is no shame at all in wearing something casual on New Year's Eve or repurposing glam pieces to spice up your daily outfits.

Use this NYE outfit stylebook to steal some great tips. Save on money (and headaches), not on fashion!

It is coming to the final weeks of Christmas when everyone panic buys and the high street stores are usually busier. This time of year is the worst for Christmas shopping. To make life easier while shopping for him, you can look online for all the items on your wishlist. The reason is that you are more likely to find the sizes for him online as most of the stores will be out of stock for sizes by this time.

If you want some inspiration for fashion presents, this guide will do all of the dirty work for you by discussing the on-trend fashion items and showing you those that will be best for a Christmas gift.

Here are some of the best clothing items to buy for him this Christmas.

Winter Coats

With Christmas being particularly chilly, every man must have a winter coat in his wardrobe. The problem is there are several styles to choose from when it comes to a man’s jacket. However, there are only a few that are currently in fashion at the moment. These coats are perfect for the colder months and, many luxury fashion brands have got behind these styles.

Parkas

Parka jackets are very much in fashion at the moment. Some designs are suitable for spring and summer, other parka coats are suitable for the autumn/winter season. Either way, we will be looking at those that are much warmer and waterproof. A go-to place is House of Fraser, one place that has an extensive variety of parka jackets.

House of Fraser has a wide selection of jackets with its online store; additionally, it also offers a range of luxury brands to choose from. When it comes to picking a gift like this for him, you need to research on what are his preferred brands. Look at his existing wardrobe and see if he has any preferred brands. You could also ask him yourself to make sure that you get the right brand. Males are much more brand-driven compared to females, although, some males are happy with unbranded apparel. Brands can be expensive, that is why you should double-check which they prefer.

Overcoats

This jacket is for your dressier occasions and formal events. An overcoat will usually be longline and it will sit just above the knees, keeping the thighs warm. One thing to take note of is that an overcoat is generally made of wool; hence, it is not waterproof. It will protect him from drizzle or snow but, it is not designed for the heavy downpour. Still, it is an essential winter jacket style that every man needs.

As mentioned before, overcoats are for dressier occasions. Nonetheless, they are great for strolling around the Christmas markets whilst feasting on a bratwurst hotdog. The last thing to keep in mind when it comes to buying an overcoat is that it usually does not have a hood. Make sure that your man has a hat to go with his overcoat with that being a flat pack to walk around with a peaky blinders style or the usual woolly hat. Either way, your man needs to be well wrapped up with headgear with its flat cap.

Denim Jackets

This is a jacket that has very much been on-trend in previous years. Denim jackets are much more casual in style; nonetheless, they take a man’s outfit to another level in the most simple but effective way possible.

Denim is quite a heavy material, especially when bought from a premium brand such as Levi Strauss, a brand that is known for durable denim garments. Yes, items from this premium label are higher in price but, you pay for quality with Levi Strauss. Furthermore, another brand that is great for denim jackets and we can recommend is &Sons.

Loungewear/Tracksuits

Every man and woman needs loungewear for those lazy Sundays. Tracksuits are the perfect outfit when it comes to doing nothing all day. They have also been around for many years, going back to the 1980s; however, the style of a typical tracksuit has changed much more than the usual tracksuit a man would usually wear.

These days, men's full tracksuits tend to be made of cotton or wool, in a more relaxed fit, and they are very much on-trend. If there is any item that he will be using and wearing as soon as he opens his gift, it will be a full tracksuit.

Hat, Scarf And Glove Sets

A set like this is another essential for a man when it comes to this time of year. Although it will not be the main present, it is more appropriate for a Christmas stocking. There are many luxury brands out there like Calvin Klein, Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger and others that design premium hats, scarf and gloves set. You do not need to go all out on a set like this but, if there is a particular fashion brand that he likes when it comes to his clothing, this is the perfect gift idea to buy from that brand.

Conclusions

There are a lot of options you can consider buying when it comes to fashion gifts for him. However, it is all about purchasing items that are trendy at the moment. Trends aside, think also and foremost about something that he needs: is it a coat or a jumper? A hat or a thick pair of woolly socks? Just remember when you are buying for Christmas, you want to make sure that your wearable gifts are going to be perfect for these cold temperatures.

Whatever you do, do not forget about stocking fillers either! These can range from an Eau de toilette to winter skincare essentials; these small gift ideas will be always very welcome.

Good luck on your shopping spree this Christmas.

Winter Jacket Styles Every Stylish Man Should Own

With the cold weather quickly approaching, it is time to update your wardrobe with a few winter jacket styles that every stylish man should own! From classic winter coats that will keep you warm and dry to dressier options for staying warm on nights out, we have got you covered. Plus, the great thing about these jackets is that you can find options no matter your budget.

So, let us find you the next staple winter jacket that you will wear for years to come!

A Classic Overcoat

The first winter jacket staple that you need to stay fashionable year after year is the classic overcoat. This long jacket - between thigh and knee-length - is a lightweight winter jacket designed to be layered over shirts, jumpers or even suits. You will know that when you buy this jacket, it will never go out of style, so investing slightly more money into this choice is a good idea!

Overcoats can be styled with virtually anything, from suits to a polo neck and even tracksuits! You will be surprised at how great an overcoat can look with a plain hoodie and joggers. When you have an overcoat in your wardrobe, you will always have the perfect coat option to add to your outfit. Go for a classic black, a beige or even a faint check pattern for a timeless choice.

A Waterproof Down Jacket

Next up, we have a waterproof down jacket. This is the sensible choice out of all of our stylish winter jackets. For days when it is freezing cold and raining, or if you are heading out for the day and want to make sure you stay comfortable, this is the right option. Plus, they can look great with jeans or joggers.

Waterproof down jackets are also known as puffer jackets to some people! There are some very expensive waterproof down jackets out there, so if you are looking for a more affordable option, head towards a men’s puffer jacket sale. A waterproof down jacket might not be the right option for your dressier days or evenings, but it is certainly a stylish and practical choice that everyone needs in their wardrobe.

A Borg Jacket

Next up we have a borg jacket! In the past, borg (a short and thick fur-like material) was used inside coats and jackets to help with warmth. However, in recent years, this material has been used all over coats and has become extremely popular! They come in so many colours, although brown, camel and black are the most classic that you know will not go out of fashion.

Plus, borg jackets can be worn with dressier or more casual outfits and they will still look amazing. If you do not like the full borg look, then a denim jacket with a borg collar is a great alternative that works really well when layered with a t-shirt and open shirt.

A Heavy Overshirt

Layering is essential in the winter months, so another must-have in your winter wardrobe is a heavy overshirt. The safest choice is a check pattern, or you can experiment with different coloured denim overshirts. Make sure to choose an overshirt with pockets to add important detail to the outfit. Another tip is to limit the layering to 2-3 layers, as otherwise you are likely to be uncomfortable and the outfit will start to look slightly bulky.

In the winter months, wearing a t-shirt on its own for a night out simply will not cut it in terms of warmth! So, you can wear a really simple all-black outfit then completely bring it to life with an overshirt. You will look effortlessly stylish without having to spend ages deciding what to wear. A denim jacket is something that you could also wear as the material will keep you warm. A denim jacket is a travel essential that every man needs.

Final Thoughts

Now is the perfect time to invest in your newest winter coats and with these options, you will be wearing them year after year. Whether you need something dressy or more casual, you will always have the right choice in your wardrobe after this! Buying new winter jackets does not have to cost a fortune as you can find great pieces no matter your budget. Keeping warm without compromising on style can be easy, as these winter jackets prove!

Summer Tips: How To Choose The Perfect Caftan

The caftan is a perfect garment for warm months. Scour the beach or the resort you are staying in for the summer, and you will find a woman in comfortable, breezy, and flowy caftan attire. But this summer garb is so versatile. You can dress it up and be suitable enough to wear to a party. You can also match it with fitting pants and shoes, and it would be good enough as office wear during the hot summer months.

If you want to look trendy this summer but do not want to compromise on comfort, you should consider wearing a fabulous caftan.

Here are some top tips to help you choose the perfect one:

1. Go For A High-Quality Brand

Caftans are supposed to make you feel effortlessly chic. So, if you want to look your best without sacrificing style, you better not skimp on cost. Getting this attire from internationally known brands that specialise in this summer fashion staple may be more expensive. But you will not regret your decision because you will surely enjoy your quality caftan for many years to come.

For example, if you are looking for a classic but fashionable style, you may want to consider shopping for luxury caftans by Natori. This global fashion company is known for its silk and cotton tunics, robes, and caftans that are lightweight and made notable by their bold and beautiful designs.

2. Buy For Your Size

One mistake that most ladies make when selecting a caftan is not buying for their built and size. This type of summer attire is typically loose-fitting to let air circulate freely inside the garment, so you will feel comfortable during the warm season. Hence, even if the caftan fits, if it does not give you the ability to move effortlessly, then the size may not suit you. Once you have found a caftan that perfectly fits your body, you will forever want to include it as one of your go-to travel dresses for summer, along with a wrap-around dress and a backless mini dress.

3. Know Your Purpose

As mentioned earlier, caftans are excellent summer attire because they are adaptable. Some Hollywood celebrities even wear caftan-inspired gowns during red-carpet or awards nights. In the 2021 Emmy's, Elizabeth Olsen wowed the crowd with a trendy but straightforward white caftan-esque gown designed by her sisters. So, wearing caftans for various occasions - even formal ones - is doable and appropriate.

For example, suppose you are going to a beach wedding and want something comfortable but still classy. In that case, you should consider buying a caftan made of luxury fabric like silk. Remember to pick one with bold and elaborate colours and designs. However, if you want to own a caftan just because you think they are stylish, then you can pretty much pick any design, colour, and fabric you want.

4. Match With Your Available Accessories

If you want to look classy effortlessly, buying a caftan made of excellent quality fabric would be preferable. It may be more costly, but you can save money on other fashion items. In other words, splurge on the caftan itself and not on added fashion accessories.

For instance, always consider what accessories and shoes you already have when choosing your summer caftan. So, instead of buying a new pair of sunglasses or new shoes to match your attire, it would make more sense to search for a caftan design and colour that would look perfect with the accessories you already have in your wardrobe.

5. Mind The Length

You should also have the length in mind when buying a caftan. By doing so, you do not need to go to a dressmaker to have your garment altered. Fortunately, caftans come in various lengths and sizes, so you will find one that is ideal for your purpose.

So, if you want caftans for casual and loungewear, you can pick one with a short or medium length. You can even use short caftans to work if you pair them up with leggings or slim-fitting jeans. However, if you are eyeing to use this go-to summer garb for a formal party, you may want to get a floor-length caftan or one that can at least reach your mid-calf. Remember to dress everything up with a small clutch and beautiful jewellery.

6. Know Your Fabric

The most common fabric used for caftans is cotton because it is breathable and ideal for hot and humid weather. However, you can also find some made from rayon, satin, or even wool. That said, if you want to feel elegant and luxurious, pick something made of silk. Just feeling that smooth and silky fabric touch on your skin would already make you feel like a million bucks.

Conclusion

Caftans are a versatile summer outfit you can wear anytime and for any occasion. However, if you want to feel unique and fashionable, you should take the time to choose the right one for your body type, purpose, and accessories you already have in your closet.
