Born and raised in Bermuda, Shannon Stapley graduated this year from Manchester School of Art with a BA in Fashion, specialising in print and embroidery.
Her graduate collection was a satirical take on the misconceptions of the Bermuda Triangle, with a focus on 17th century clothing details, retro sci-fi films, and coral reefs.
Her aesthetic is bold and colourful, with a strong attention to detail, and her garments feature a variety of hand embroidery, including beading and gold-work.
Panna designs clothing solely through experimentation with advanced materials and unorthodox methods of construction. The initial focus on purely how the clothing is made removes any historical or cultural referencing from the design process.
This process allows for genuinely new and organic fashion to form through the garments; as a direct expression of how they were made.
