Unless you have been living under a rock for the past few months, you'll have noticed Flatforms springing up in high street shops, fashion magazines and being sported by bloggers and fashionista's alike. The Flatform is an amalgam of a platform and a flat shoe – mixed together to create a flat platform (Flatform – clever, huh?) Whilst these were exhibited last year a la Cher Lloyd, the trend has bounced back for another successful season. From brogue styles to Creepers and girly sandal styles, the Flatform can be styled in a number of ways for a range of looks.

For a casual, daytime look, copy Rihanna with a pair of brogue Flatforms such as Brogue Lace Up Flatform Creepers from Runway Shoes (£25.99) or New Look's Black Lace Up Brogue Creepers (£19.99). Perfect teamed with skinnys and a tee, leggings and an oversized knit or a day dress for a dressed down look. Whilst the Creeper styles aren't to all tastes, the brogue styles give a masculine yet chic edge and can be smartened up by pairing with a blazer and tailored trousers or cropped chinos. The Flatform is ideal for everyday use as it gives some height without the effort and pain of high heels, and without the overdressed look of platforms or wedges.

Flatforms can be a little more feminine with a strappy sandal style a la Jessica Alba.
